Weekend With My Feet Up

This weekend has been very nice. My friend came up yesterday and the tragedy of being three ended as soon as she got here of course, since my son loves her to pieces.

We went over to Target after dinner for the last minute father's day card hunt. I found out that I'm not the only one that procrastinates in this town! It was nice though, I found some really sweet cards, expensive, some, but still cute and worth it. And my friend dragged me over to the scrapbooking section and all hell ensued. I ended up spending over $80 on cards, a movie for my hubby, 3 pair of $1 socks, and scrapbooking stuff. I got a new album for my son, since I start a new one each year around his birthday, it was time. Theirs were only about $17, which is cheap! Most speciality and craft stores carry them at $25 and up. So I was happy. I got some paper, and some new stencils, since my last set grew legs and ran away.

After the entire fiasco with my aunt and doing her scrapbooks, I was burned out on it entirely. I didn't even touch any of my own pictures for a year. I can't even find half of them. But I'm starting off fresh and not going to beat myself up for the year I missed. This year is going to be done as I go. The only pictures I don't have anything for yet are his actual birthday ones. Other than that, every picture I've taken since May is in queue to be done. It's thrilling, really.

It's nice to get back to something I love doing so much. The upside of doing my aunt's albums is that I took more chances with hers than I would've my own, so I've learned some new techniques that I wouldn't have, normally. I love what I've done so far. This year I graduated from a small 8"x11" binder to a 12"x12" and what a difference a few inches make! It looks so much nicer. I'm half tempted to rip up my last two books and redo them in 12"x12", but I probably never will.

This was a very relaxing, tension-free (except for the tantrum Saturday) weekend. And tonight? We have Chinese food! How wonderful.

Happy Father's Day to those of you out there!
