Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Today was actually very nice. And as it's coming to an end (half an hour until the munchkin's bedtime) I'm realizing how far I've come as a mother. I'm still more calm now than I used to be, much more. Still crazy and frustrated most of the time, but no where near where I used to be.

Tonight, on our way home from swim school, we saw a rainbow. A beautifully vivid, full arch, one end to the other, rainbow. It was almost magical.

Now, I know the properties of this, and how it happens, and how it's just light reflecting off of water, but it's stunning to look at when you least expect it. And there is something in your heart that just lifts when you gaze.

Then, as we were turning into our development, another rainbow popped up beside it, making it a double. That is amazing, I have never seen a thing like that in my entire life. My mom, my son, and I were all dumbstruck and craning our necks to get a good look at them. There were people standing outside of their houses with wet hair from the rain, all staring up at the sky to look at the beauty.

I ran in the house as fast as I could to grab my camera, my telephoto lens, and ran out back into the mud to get pictures. I probably took at least 10. It was stunning. I'll see if I can post some when I get them developed.
